Yup, it’s happening! Registration link !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , more information after the jump. Update : 19 reactions to the form already, keep ‘em coming!

Kinja'd!!!

After positive feedback on the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , it would be a shame if no Oppomeet were organised. BVdV offered to help, and this is our first step in setting up the meet. We’ve created a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! where you can state your interest and leave some information for further communication. We aim to do most of the practical organisation via email, to prevent Oppo from being cluttered by a steady stream of Europpomeet posts.*

These are the current ideas, but a lot is still up for discussion, so leave a comment, either here or in the signup form.

When: A weekend in March, April or May 2017. No decision has been made on duration (one or two days), but that’ll depend on the activities and participants.

Where/what: In the original post, most people were pro Nürburgring, both for its heritage and its central location ( !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ). Possible activities are driving the Ring and the surrounding Eifel region, visiting the museum, and/or lining it up with a race weekend. A combination with Spa is possible as well, especially if we spread it over two days.

Who: You! Friends and family are welcome as well I suppose, if they like hanging out with washing machine enthusiasts.

By the way, are there Photoshop geniuses (genii?) around who could create a banner/logo, for both the Europpomeet posts and possible stickers?

Good luck with that lol. Have never seen Guiness for sale here, not even in very large super markets. You better smuggle some into mainland Europe.

“There will be quite some reposts of this particular post though, sorry US Oppos!”

I expect an apology to every other part of the world as well. The US Oppos had their fun.

But seriously, hope this goes well!

The good thing is expats get everywhere. There are The English Shops in Bonn, Cologne and Dortmund that sell Guinness.

Englishshop.de

Guinness Draught 500ml €1.99

Guinness Golden Ale 500ml €4.49

I’m happy with that.

Too bad, but I understand the priorities, just finished my own MSc. Good luck with it!

I’m sure it’s sold at more stores and very likely in good bars, I just never had the chance to buy/try one. Might do if I ever come accross a bottle around here. Almost as hard as getting root beer here, though some gas stations started offering it some years ago at high prices.

When us Brits stroll around the planet, we still like some of our creature comforts such as tea, salad cream, brown sauce, etc...

Some aren’t even all that different such as Lays and Walkers, Axe and Lynx, etc... only different in name but some can be quite different such as American baked beans and British baked beans.

Not everyone is all that enamoured with Guinness and some find it an acquired taste. Though as with everything, it’s worth a try.

You can put all of them in there if you like. Seeing how some Oppos regularly change cars, I doubt an ‘I’m bringing...’ field would still be correct by next year.

I didn’t write down the idea while filling out the form, but how about this one: Visit Le Mans with the group? I know that regarding ticket sales for everyone and organizing everything will be more difficult with the whole group, but I kinda do love the idea myself. I could certainly see myself with a large Oppo group at the 24hours....

Kinja'd!!! Out, but with a W - has found the answer > DutchieDC2R

Kinja'd!!!1

I’d say that’s something we can attempt to set up during the meet (I’d probably be down for it, work permitting), but it’s a long drive for everyone involved, so not as ideal for a first get-together when compared to a more central location.

At the moment, it seems like the meet’ll take place in March or April, so that should be enough time to organise a Le Mans thing, especially as we know each other personally then.

Wow, you’re probably the most remote Europpo then! We’ll try to finalize the date by mid- to end-October, so you’d have enough time to decide and plan.

I understand, knowing a bit about your situation.

Wout(Out, but with a ZZW30) and I are probably going to decide on a date/location in a few weeks, in order to make sure people can take it into account in their planning. Though seeing the responses I don’t think the location will be a difficult choice.

Should we set a date for a decision on when this happens, ie aim to have everyone registered and a weekend selected by the end of the month or such. Would help a lot of guys (such as me) who need to book time.off work well in advance.

My 5th gear is very very short. 80 is over 4000 rpm.

10/04/2016 at 02:51

In 5th at 130kmh(~80mph) mine is doing around 3400-3500 rpm. The downside of that tall 5th is that it won’t reach top speed in 5th, I need to downshift to 4th for that.

Oppo from Brussels here, have a lot of friends in Belgium slalom racing so I’ll go ahead and invite them too. Could be interesting :)
I’m all pro spa as my racing car is not allowed to drive on the road but is FIA approved so can definitely drive on the track :)
